Spoon Carving with a Hook Knife
Understanding how a knife most likes to cut wood is key to doing any woodcarving - this is my attempt to help folk see how most efficiently to carve the bowl of a spoon . I trained in spoon carving in Sweden & forge carving tools for a living in the US at pinewoodforge.com. This is my first attempt at YouTube - I plan a couple more shortly. front room spoon carving - part 1: axe
Robin Wood demonstrates his skills with an axe to carve a cooking spoon. Carving this way is a very accessible hobby; the tools are very reasonably priced, the raw material is everywhere (yes, it grows on trees!) and there is no need for a dedicated workspace... Extreme Carving Alpine Snowboarders / Mt Rose
Two "EC" or "Extreme Carving" riders rippin it at Mt Rose Ski Area. Rob and James Ong are excellent examples of "Extreme Carving" while Bryan Sutherland (me) of www.finelineclub.com is more of the "Toes To The Nose" style of Alpine snowboarding. Couple days after a storm, the snow is still smooth yet grippy. Light was a bit flat yet the video gives the veiwer a pretty good idea of the fun we had that day. Thanks again guys for showing me around Mt Rose!! [

As humans developed even more they begun carving the surface even more, taking more and more of earths resources and building from many different materials. Just like being carved the earth is cut into and split open. [

NK Forster Guitars, luthier, neck carving
Me carving a neck on a Indian/Rio mix model F. Neck carving is a straight foreward job - the neck is divided into half, then half then half again, the lines are joined using a rasp. Once a series of flats have been formed they are joined together with more filing to form a round shape. Finish off with sand paper.
